The Complete Book of International Adoption: A Step by Step Guide to Finding Your Child
by Dawn Davenport

This book is for anyone thinking about any form of adoption because it has a great discussion and comparison of all forms of adoption. Although the book goes on to a thorough coverage of international adoption, The author is clear that all forms of adoption should be considered and there is no one type of adoption that is best for everyone.

The book covers everything a prospective parent needs to think about, but the author is nonjudgmental about many of the choices parent will have to make. With each choice she urges parents to be honest with themselves and to put the interest of the child first.

The first couple of chapters most helpful if you are just starting the adoption process: are you ready to move on to adoption, what type of adoption is best for us, how to choose a country, and how to choose an agency.

New business offers greeting cards for older adopted children

Designed For You Adoption Cards provides adoption announcements and adoption-related cards for older children and their adoptive families.

Designed For You Adoption Cards is a new business that provides adoption announcements and adoption-related cards for older children and their adopted families. It is a home-based business located in Columbus, Ohio. These greeting cards are designed by the owner, who is an adoptive mother. She adopted her daughter when the child was 10-years-old. She knows how difficult it is to find appropriate cards for older adopted children, and understands adoption-related issues. The designs are hand-drawn using colored pencil. The cards are printed from the original design on quality paper. Cards can be purchased individually or in packages of ten. Each of the announcements depicts a boy or girl with different colored hair and eyes, and different cultural groups. Wording is available for a two-parent or single-parent family. There are also cards for special occasions, such as the finalization of the adoption and Happy Adoption Day. Expressions of encouragement and love include a card, in which the parents let their child know how thankful they are that they are a family. The number of card designs will grow. For example, cards for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa will be available in time to make holiday orders. For more information and to view the catalog of current card designs, visit the Designed For You Adoption Cards web site at www.designedforyou cards.com.
