People have just gone through the holidays and have been reminded of what's important - family," says Mary Ann Hamby of Buckner International Adoption. A Mother's Charm designed the You Can Afford Adoption: Getting Started seminar in 2003, to teach strategies to manage the costs of adoption, so that people can experience the blessing of expanding their family even when finances are tight. This seminar has been successfully produced, free to the public, in several cities since that time. Adoption and industry experts will present information on: - Maximizing adoption tax benefits - Obtaining loans and other traditional financing as well as maximizing savings opportunities - Lessons learned (Real adoptive families will talk about fund-raising and their experiences in affording the process.) Adoption agencies, social workers, adoptive parent support groups and Bank One will sponsor information booths throughout the seminar. Shoes for Orphan Souls (shoesfororphansouls.org), an aid organization that collects and distributes new shoes to orphans in the USA and all over the world, will be accepting donations, as well. The greatest need for donations is tennis shoes and boots in adult sizes 3-9 for the older children and teen orphans. Childcare will not be provided at this event. About A Mother's Charm (motherscharm.com) - Celebrate, Educate and Advocate Adoption Two mothers, Kari Hunt and Ruth Ellen Heaton, who met in the process of adopting their sons in 2001, founded A Mother’s CharmTM (motherscharm.com) in September 2002. Their boys had been good friends living in the same orphanage in St Petersburg, Russia. Relishing the special moments with their newly expanded families, these career women and new mothers, who have a passion for philanthropy, decided to make another life altering change. They created a business to celebrate, educate and advocate adoption as well as support orphan care programs worldwide. *See their story in the September 2004 issue of Parents Magazine. A Mother's Charm designs and produces comprehensive adoption conferences as well as smaller affording adoption seminars across the nation. These events draw agencies, organizations and attendees from across the USA. 2005 AMC adoption events are planned for Chicago, Dallas, Lexington, Pasadena, Philadelphia and Atlanta. Requests for a package of their unique affording adoption information prompted the AMC founders to author the book You Can Afford Adoption in 2003. The second edition will be published in 2005. A Mother’s Charm also offers a line of unique adoption/orphan care charms and advocates for a variety of orphan care programs. To host an AMC seminar in your area, or to receive additional information, please visit motherscharm.com or contact A Mother’s Charm at 888-924-2767 or e-mail protected from spam bots.
