Finding Free Printable Tax Forms
Carl LaFresnaye

If an individual decides to do his own taxes, there are many different avenues where he can find free printable tax forms for his use.

There are websites that provide these forms to individuals at no cost. The best place to get these free printable tax forms is from the Internal Revenue Service's website, since the information provided on that site is definitely correct and what the individual needs to fill in the taxes for that year. In addition, using the IRS website also gives the individual the current tax information and tips that he might need in order to accurately fill out his taxes for that year.

Forms and Options

Although there are free printable tax forms that an individual can use to file his taxes, an even easier method is to do a free file from the comfort of the home, filing the taxes electronically for free. This way the forms add up the information in them automatically so that there are a reduced number of errors in the math during the process of filing the taxes. Not all people are eligible to use the free file method rather than using the free printable tax forms and mailing them in, but there are many who do not make much money or who do not have a complex tax form who can use the free filing method, which helps to get refunds back to the person more quickly than a paper method.

There are also software applications that can be bought that contain free printable tax forms along with the software so that the individual not only has the knowledge base and questions to follow when doing his or her taxes, he also has all of the forms at his fingertips as well. Many of these tax software programs also provide a free electronic filing as a part of the software package which means the individual will not pay any more for filing electronically than the price of the software that they bought. Many of these software applications are less expensive than going to an accountant to get the taxes done, although more of the work is on the individual's shoulders and there are not readily available sources many times to ask if the individual gets stuck during the process. However, these software applications are often designed in different levels or categories to meet the specific needs of the clients, such as individuals with a simple tax return versus individuals with their own business or rental properties.
