Identity Theft by Phishing
Stealing Your Life: The Ultimate Identity Theft Prevention Plan
by Frank W. Abagnale

Stealing Your Life is more frightening than a gory murder mystery. Any one of us, from cradle to grave, is vulnerable to a swindle that can wreck us emotionally, cost us serious money, ruin our credit ratings, and take us years to straighten out. Identity theft is here to stay, and as long as legislators, businesses, law enforcement agencies, and individuals fail to take it seriously, the number of victims will continue to climb.

For thirty-two years, the author has been a law-abiding citizen; his criminal past, famously recounted in the book and film "Catch Me If You Can," is a distant memory. However, he knows how crooks think, and this knowledge has led to a lucrative career as a consultant for the FBI and corporations all over the world in preventing frauds and scams. Abagnale is horrified at how easy and tempting identity theft is for the budding criminal. He calls it "a crook's dream come true."

Getting past identity theft nowadays is next to impossible. The World Wide Web has made it easier for identity thieves to gain access to millions of files by merely tracing tracks.

When a person goes onto the Internet to visit a site the http links to a URL and the two are enemies as well as friends to each other. Thus, to clear your tracks of activities conducted by your self you must clear the history of the sites you visited. To do this you can go to Start, Control Panel and click the Internet Options. Once the box pops up you can click the Delete Cookies tab and then Click Delete files to clear up your space on your computer, and then click Clear History. You can also perform this action by opening a new Internet Browser, clicking Tools and then Internet Option.

Software is available that removes tracks and traces so that the thieves have less chance of finding out that you are. Once a thief learns your name, his next step is finding a modus operandi to gain access to your information. From there, you know that the thief will go to any lengths to benefit his or her self while utilizing your information.

Other sources are available to help you get past identity theft. Policies are available that include identity theft, which means you will have coverage in the event your identity is stolen. If you are one of those people that believe "it can't happen to you" then you are one of the unluckiest fools in the world, since you never know when your day will arrive. The majority of individuals that believe it will not happen to them often are vulnerable and meet the reality of life somewhere down the line. Thus, the correct thinking pattern is knowing that life is filled with crooks and other types of predators and that anyone can become the next victim.

Therefore, protecting your self now can save you later. If you use E-mails to communicate, change your passwords often to avoid theft. Passwords should also be changed regularly on banking accounts on and offline. PIN numbers should be changed randomly to prevent loss. Some say changing your passwords and PIN numbers every six months will spare you from identity theft, however, with the increasing number of crimes of identity theft, random sounds more logical.

If you are not a victim of identity theft, you should learn what to watch out for, as well as other information on protecting your identity to help you stay safe. Learning is growing and growing is staying strong. Identity theft indemnity is shrewd to obtain since identity theft over the World Wide Web, mail, phone lines, and other regions are ever increasing. Daily, someone falls into the hands of a thief. Identity theft indemnity is inexpensive making it easy for most us to afford to disburse the monthly premiums. At what time someone takes your personal information into their possession, including credit card numbers, social security number, maiden name, date of birth, driver license or other ID, you are in danger. Subsequent to the time, you become a victim of identity theft, you are at risk of going to prison, summons to court, you will not take delivery of the credit you deserve, and the list continues.

Identity theft criminals once they have possession of an identity can open banking accounts, apply for credit cards, file bankruptcy, hook utilities and phones up in your name, commit crimes in your name, and so on. Thus, taking any risks is saying that you do not care about your own life.

Getting past identity theft is essential to save your self from hassle, since if you become a victim of the theft you will fight for the rest of your life to restore what is rightfully yours with little if any help in between.
